Plastic-Free Skin Care Routine

Plastic-Free Skin Care Routine

As many of you know, finding plastic-free products, ESPECIALLY in the beauty area, is hard!

So, hard I thought it would make a good challenge so I wanted to see if Amy, the resident skincare guru at Pela, was up for it.

Her challenge, give Nic, the designer, a facial WITHOUT using plastic. Or at least as close as possible. She raided her own stash to see what plastic-free items she could find.

I think she did pretty well, and Nic's skin was glowing. Don't believe me? Just check out the video!

Step 1 PREP:

To prep, Amy started out with a Tata Harper cleanser. Tata Harper is one of my favorite brands. I have used Tata before and like to purchase it from Credo Beauty. They ship totally plastic-free.

The Tata Harper cleanser provides gentle physical and chemical exfoliation with apricot microspheres and BHA from white willow bark to minimize skin congestion and give you a healthy-looking, radiant glow.

This cleanser will slough away dead skin cells, but it's safe enough to use every day.

I'm also a big fan of their resurfacing mask. <---- it works miracles!

Step 2 MASK:

The second step is choosing a nice mask, I too am also a big fan of herbivore botanicals. I have the Blue Tansy Mask and can attest that it's pretty amazing.

Herbivore Botanicals Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask is a truly natural clarifying and cooling gel mask that gently exfoliates, smooths, and rejuvenates skin with a blend of Fruit Enzymes, Willow Bark and Blue Tansy Oil.

You might notice the Tata Harper cleanser. and this mask both include two of the same ingredients - Willow Bark!

Willow bark is great for clearing up congestion by removing excess oil and skin cell build-up. Amy chose both of these products not just because they're plastic-free but also to allow Nic's skin to really open up for some deep hydration in step four.

Step 3 MIST:

Next step is a hydrating mist. Amy chose the Tacha Luminous Dewey Skin Mist which is a lighter than a cream.

The Tacha Luminous Dewey Skin Mist offers a boost of soothing hydration and a luminous complexion. Formulated with more than 20 percent botanical oils and humectants that leave skin dewy.

A proprietary complex of Okinawa Red Algae and hyaluronic acid delivers highly efficient hydration to the skin, acting as the ultimate moisture magnet. It's also infused with Hadasei-3™ Anti-Aging Complex, a trinity of Japanese anti-aging superfoods—green tea, rice and algae—that restores youthful radiance.

Step 4 HYDRATE:

Then last and final step is the Rose Deep Hydration Moisturizer. This thicker moisturizer will help keep moisture locked in all day.

Fresh’s Rose Deep Hydration Moisturizer is an advanced combo of hyaluronic acids that act like moisture magnets, attracting and increasing it for up to 24-hours, while hydropatches seal it in. This daily cream also contains rosewater and rose oil, angelica leaf extract, and vitamin E.

DON'T FORGET! When taking off your make-up opt for reusable make-up wipes instead of disposable ones. If you want to see more skincare and makeup videos, be sure to let us know in the comment section of the YouTube video and give it a THUMBS UP!
